Title: Mom, Editor, and Entrepreneur
Education: B.A., Music, Barnard College, Columbia University
I’m a critically acclaimed singer, writer, and mother of three living in New Jersey with my family. I attended college in New York City, where I had the opportunity to be an active performer in its amazing music and theater scene while pursuing my education. My first job after graduation was at The Juilliard School, where I wrote public relations and marketing content for 100+ performances a year. Outside of work, I continued to pursue my performance life as an active recitalist and appeared in a number of operatic productions at the young artist level.
In 2012, I became pregnant with my first child, a beautiful baby boy, and I couldn’t imagine how he would change my life. After his birth, he spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and seeing his tiny, precious life in the hands of these incredibly capable nurses and doctors shook my world. I began to question everything I’d ever done. Here I was chasing my artistic dreams, and these people were dedicated to saving lives every day. It felt ridiculous. When I expressed this to some of them, however, they were adamant that live music was an incredibly important part of their own lives and a good reminder of what matters.
From there, I felt energized and inspired to use my own abilities to make a difference in the lives of others in my work. I began performing the music closest to my own heart, the Great American Songbook. My professional artistic endeavors have taken me to numerous performance venues, including the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Don’t Tell Mama, the Gramercy Theater, the Cabaret at Germano’s in Baltimore, and many others. I am most inspired by the art of cabaret, which allows me to blend my passions for music and writing to create an original show. I’ve also served as a staff vocalist at Grace Church Brooklyn Heights since 2008 and for Music for All Seasons since 2014. Throughout this time, I have continued to write professionally and have had the opportunity to edit several children’s books.Â
Motherhood has brought me great happiness, most importantly because I love raising my wonderful children, but also because it helped reinvigorate my own work. I have a sense of purpose now that I would have missed had I not chosen this journey. I want to help other parents, both working and at home, to feel balanced, engaged, and happy with their lives. It really does take a village, and I want to be part of yours.Â
