Black History Month
February is Black History Month, and this year it is more important than ever. We are experiencing more nation-wide turmoil and unrest now than we have since the 1960s. We need to look at the fabric of our nation and ask ourselves how we got to where we are. Black History Month is a good time to do this introspection. There is a lot of hope and a lot of risk right now. If we don’t make a plan on where we are going, who knows where we’ll end up? This year, the focus of Black History Month is on the family.
The importance of creating powerful family bonds can’t be overstated. They shape and direct our lives and determine how happy we are and how successful we can be. Mothers and fathers deserve more attention for the hard work they do and the sacrifices they make. Black parents can also face unique challenges in keeping their family unit together and teaching their children about their Black heritage.
We want to raise our children to be healthy, optimistic, and free individuals capable of living and loving without fear. Join with me today as I explore the Black family and the things we need to do to heal our country and move forward into a safer and happier future for all.
Black Lives Matter Protests
Much of the social turmoil and upheaval we experienced in 2020 was sparked by the death of George Floyd. He needed help, and instead, he was killed. George Floyd had three children and a mother, who will all miss him. He was irreplaceable. When he died he left a hole in a lot of hearts that can never be filled. George Floyd became a symbol for the larger Black community in America. His death has galvanized the Black Lives Matter movement, which has become a source of inspiration and organization for millions.
We need to make society stronger so we can stop these tragedies from happening in the future. It may seem too big for one person to make a difference, but even one person can spark change. Each of us can make society stronger by taking better care of ourselves and the people around us.
Our friends, family, loved ones, and acquaintances all need us. Reach out to the people you love and tell them how you feel. Take care of yourself so that, when people are suffering, you will be strong enough to help. You have the power, and you can be the change we need to see in this world.
Black Lives Matter is about peaceful protest and finding opportunities to heal, as individuals and as a nation.
What Does “Black Lives Matter” Stand For?
The Black Lives Matter founders Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors have demonstrated their commitment to social, cultural, and political change. The movement began in response to police violence against Black men and the perceived indifference of society to the victims. The police are supposed to protect us. Where are we supposed to turn for protection when the police are the source of the violence? When Black Lives Matter succeeds, everyone will be safer.
If you want to learn about the Black Lives Matter movement and participate, there are many things you can do. Most people participate online. Others organize and participate in protests and meetings. Political engagement is another option where you can help. The problems will only be fixed when we put in the work. We can’t overcome these issues by ourselves. We need to come together in solidarity and find the way together.
Law enforcement is a difficult job, and many police officers work very hard to do the right thing. Despite a lot of progress, racism is still a big problem in this country. It’s even written into many of the laws.
Jeffrey Staggers is a good friend of mine. He is a good cop who is working to be a part of the solution. He does his job with integrity and compassion and is a role model for how police officers should behave. He believes “Protect and Serve” is more than a motto.
We need more men and women like Jeffrey Staggers. People like you and me can step up and help out. Be brave and try harder to do the right things. Show your love to your family and your friends, and let the people around you see how good you can be.
Be Active in Mental Health Promotion
One of the biggest consequences of injustice is depression. When you are not treated fairly, it’s easy to feel like the world is against you and there is no way to win. Keep your eyes open for any signs and symptoms of depression, so mental health problems can be addressed as quickly as possible.
Overcoming financial anxiety can also help improve your mental health in many ways. When you learn how to manage your money better, you will decrease your own stress and struggles and be a good example for others.
Social change takes time and hard work. That’s why it is so important to take care of your mental and physical health. We need to take care of all aspects of our health so we will be strong and capable enough to see it through.
There are many roads to strong mental health. I have found that CBDistillery products help make anxiety relief techniques more effective. It smooths things out so I can put in my best work, no matter the circumstances or conditions.
Your physical health has a big impact on your mental health. You can always find a way to make yourself a little healthier. You can get a little more exercise, even if it’s just walking around the block or doing some sit-ups. Functional medicine will get to the root of your physical and mental health problems. You are ultimately responsible for your own health and happiness, so make the most of your opportunities. Eat healthily, get exercise, and clean the spaces you live in; if you do these things, you will be healthier, happier, and more functional.
Cleaning helps mental health. It also burns calories, makes your home more pleasant, and gives you a sense of accomplishment. Cleaning is an activity that helps you in several ways at once, so do a little bit every day.
Black History Month Is an Opportunity
We all have hectic lives. It seems there’s never enough time, never enough money, never enough patience to go around.
By focusing on Black history in February, we should all take a moment and look around. See what we can do to make our families and neighborhoods healthier. You can’t change the world by yourself, but you can make your world a little safer, a little smarter, a little healthier. You do this by taking the best care of yourself possible, and then helping the people closest to you live their best lives.
